Police arrest suspect linked to Reiger Park mass shooting

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a mass shooting that claimed six lives in Reiger Park.
The suspect was apprehended by the Anti-Gang Unit following an intensive investigation.
Police have praised the swift arrest and credited community cooperation.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Gauteng, Major General Fred Kekana, has welcomed the arrest of a 23-year-old man believed to be connected to the recent mass shooting in Reiger Park.

The suspect was taken into custody on the night of 3 November 2025 following an investigation by the Anti-Gang Unit. He is expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 5 November.

The arrest follows a tragic incident in which six people were fatally shot in what is believed to have been a drive-by shooting in Reiger Park, Boksburg, on Saturday, 1 November 2025.

In a separate operation, another Anti-Gang Unit team arrested a 62-year-old man for possession of drugs while patrolling the Reiger Park area. The suspect was stopped and searched, leading to the discovery of 14 ziplock bags containing methcathinone (Cat), 43 mandrax tablets, and 105 half-tablets of mandrax.

Major General Kekana praised the officers for their dedication and expressed gratitude to the community for their cooperation and ongoing support.

“This arrest would not have been made this quickly without your assistance,” said Major General Kekana. “From our engagements with you, it is clear that you have heard our call to work with the police in ridding our communities of criminal elements.”
