Police arrested a player on the pitch during a Welsh second-tier football match over the weekend.

Baglan Dragons were losing 3-1 in a JD Cymru South game on Saturday.

Their 31-year-old star player came off the bench and changed the game. He helped set up two goals and then scored the winning goal in the 85th minute.

But the drama wasn’t over. Just before the final whistle, police entered the field and arrested him for theft.

“He was later released without charge,” a South Wales police spokesperson told Mail Online.

Team manager Simon Berry talked about what happened after the match.

“Fair play to him; he came on the pitch and completely transformed the game. He assisted in the two goals that drew them level and then banged in the winner,” Berry said.

“He played really well for 20 minutes, and then the police arrived and took him away.”
