Pitso Sends Message To Tau After CAFCL Triumph

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has sent a message to Percy Tau after the Bafana Bafana winger became the first South African player to win the CAF Champions League twice.

Tau, 29, claimed a historic title with Al Ahly on Sunday evening, after the record champions collected a hard-fought 1-1 in Casablanca to beat defending champions Wydad Athletic Club 3-2 on aggregate.

Tau, much like the rest of his team, had a tough outing but finished the CAFCL campaign with five goals and five assists – more than any other player in the competition.

As a consequence, Mosimane congratulated the winger, who he brought to Al Ahly in 2021, and revealed Tau is his Player of the Tournament.

“Patriotic Lion of Judah wearing the respectable South African flag. That Flag is very notorious with winning major trophies in different countries and continents,” he wrote on social media.

“Thanks God, injuries gave you a break to show your talent. My player of the tournament and a Champion of Africa.”

Overall, Tau has now won five trophies with Al Ahly, two Egyptian Super Cups, one Egyptian Cup, one CAF Super Cup and one CAF Champions League.
