Three-time CAF Champions League-winning coach Pitso Mosimane sent a strong message to football lovers ahead of the kick-off of this CAF Women’s Champions League.
The TotalEnergies CAF Woman’s Champions league is set to kick off today in Morocco. This will be the second edition of the tournament and it will be the second time it held in the North African state.
The draw has been done and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are in group b alongside Egyptian side Wadi Delga, Nigerian side Bayelsa Queens and newcomers TP Mazembe.
The South African mentor begs football supporters to support the ladies. The 58-year-old won three CAF Champions League titles in the men’s side with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016 and with Al Ahly SC in 2019-20 and 2020-2021.
“I’m just reminding everybody that this year 2022 CAF will be hosting the most prestigious for woman’s football, the CAF Champions League and it will be held in Morocco from the 30 October to the 13 November,” Mosimane said on social media.
“The Champions League is becoming more competitive and everybody is starting to follow it now. The tournament has an impact on women’s football in the continent. It’s an opportunity for the ladies to compete amongst the continent’s best and gain recognition.
“In my spare time I will be watching and I hope you will be watching too. Let’s empower the game because woman’s football is the fastest-growing sport in the world.”
