Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has sent a message to Paseka Mako after his horrific collision with teammate Richard Ofori.

Make, 28, collided with his goalkeeper during Orlando Pirates 0-0 draw with Baroka at the Peter Mokoba Stadium on Tuesday.

Initial scenes saw his teammates in shock and tears after Mako was left unconscious following an accidental knock by Ofori’s knee.

However, the player could later be stabilised and transported to hospital, with the Buccaneers confirming he is in a “stable condition”.

“Following the emergency injury involving defender Paseka Mako in the DStv Premiership clash against Baroka FC last night, Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that the 28 year old is in a stable condition,” the club said in a statement on Wednesday morning.

“The doctor has revealed that CT scan results have shown no signs of skull fracture or any brain haemorrhage however, the player has sustained fracture to the face and nose.

“He will remain in High Care and will be assessed by the neurosurgeon again this morning.”

Many in the South African football fraternity were left shocked while watching the scenes at the Peter Mokoba Stadium, with the pitch-side medical team taking more than three minutes before attending to Mako – while Pirates and Baroka medical staff immediately rushed onto the pitch to assist him.

Mako has since received many messages of support and well wishes for his recovery, including from Mosimane.

“Thanks God, he made it. We wish him a speedy recovery,” Mosimane wrote on social media.
