Pitso Picks Up Draw on Al Ahli Debut

Pitso Mosimane started his reign with Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia with draw against Jeddah Club on Wednesday evening.

Mosimane took charge of his first match on the sidelines for Al Ahli Saudi, only two days after arriving in Saudi Arabia on Monday.

The South African had limited time to work with his new side, who had picked up eight points from their first five games in the Saudi Arabian First Division.

On Wednesday, Al Ahli were facing Jeddah, who were level on points with them, and ‘Jingles’ initially had reasons to smile.

His side opened the scoring in the first half, thanks to a beautiful volley by Haitham Asiri and carried their lead into the break – in fact, if they had been more clinical they should’ve added a second.

However, the home side caught Mosimane’s men on the counter in the 58th minute to level matters through Albaraa Baadheem. Al Ahli were not as dominated in the second interval with Mosimane seen widely gesticulating and shouting out instructions from the sidelines.

Al Ahli had a late chance to grab all three points, but a header by Mosimane’s men only ended on the roof of the net. The draw leaves Al Ahli in seventh place, but just two points behind the automatic relegation spot in third.
