Pitso Mosimane has revealed what he spoke to Arsene Wenger about when the two football tacticians met earlier in the year.
Mosimane was holding a joint-press conference with Curro Holdings on Thursday morning to give more insight on the newly-formed partnership wbetween Curro and the Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools (PMSS).
On Wednesday, it was announced that the PMSS will kick off at the Curro Northern Academy in Polokwane and Curro Meridian Cosmo City in Roodepoort in 2023, leaving Mosimane excited about his new programme.
The launch of the PMSS concludes a long phase of research and search for partnerships for Mosimane’s Soccer Schools, which aim to guide young African players between the ages of 6 and 18 to become technically, intellectually, and socially equipped to succeed in the competitive world of professional football.
In February, Mosimane met with former Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger, who now works as FIFA’s Head of Football Development and discussed several aspects of the beautiful game, youth development in particular.
“Arsene Wenger, who is the head of football development in the world at FIFA, I had an opportunity to sit with him and you think I wanted to talk to Arsene about how Arsenal was winning? No,” he said when asked by iDiski Times about meeting with Wenger and drawing inspiration from other football development curriculums.

“I was talking to Arsene about the football education, how do we develop football in the world? He is in charge of football development in the world. He’s in Qatar, I met him in Abu Dhabi.
“I think you’ve seen that the latest that FIFA has put on the programme is my, they put my philosophy of how I play in the FIFA (Club) World Cup against the champions Asia (Al Hilal), which is a team in Saudi Arabia that has about nine players of Saudi Arabia on the pitch when we played against them with Al Ahly and they dismantled my tactical and technical approach to the game and they’ve put it out.
“Thanks to God, it got all the big ticks, so we’ve the potential in South Africa. When FIFA accredits us at the World Cup, no higher level than that, I think we have the potential to do well.
“We should never doubt ourselves. We have the capacity in South Africa terms of the education. I’ve researched Curro, I’m here in Saudi, I’ve traveled the world. We have proper, proper academic structures (in South Africa).
“We have a long way to go but we don’t know how big we are in South Africa if we do things right and proper. I understand global football and I’m in that space.”
