After a string of disappointing results in the Egyptian Premier League, Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane has again come under fire in Egypt.
Al Ahly have been win-less in their last three fixtures, drawing two and losing one.
Al Ahly are currently second on the table, eight points behind rivals Zamalek, but they do have three games in hand.
After the draw with Ceramica Cleopatra, Egyptian football legend Taha Ismail criticized the team, saying there are a number of problems they need to address.
“Al Ahly need to take a stand, there are many problems, not just wasting chances,” Ismail told ONTime Sports, according to KingFut.
“The team is suffering on the physical level, the build-up is extremely slow, and the counterattacks are very slow as well.
“The performance is disappointing and it doesn’t show the club’s spirit.”
Meanwhile, former Al Ahly star Ahmed Koshary was also scathing.
“I didn’t understand the way Mosimane played against Ceramica Cleopatra,” KingFut quoted Koshary as saying.
“It’s obvious, the players are suffering on the physical level, we are seeing injuries every game.
“The players are not showing team spirit, which is something we are not used to at Al Ahly.
“Some starting eleven players don’t even deserve to be at the club. Right now, we look like a small club.
“We can’t just rely on long balls, more focus should be given to attack build-up.”
However, for now Mosimane will switch his focus back to the CAFCL when they host ES Setif this weekend.
