Orlando Pirates have claimed bragging rights on Saturday after beating Kaizer Chiefs in a legends Soweto Derby 2-1.

Both teams met at the Pumas Rugby Stadium in Emalahleni (Witbank) on Saturday afternoon as part of the 12-year anniversary of Masemanzi Mining Holdings.

“A game between Chiefs and Pirates is never a friendly and is also good sporting spectacle for the fans and those involved,” Chiefs chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung had said before the game.

But it was the Buccaneers, who won the game thanks to second half goals by Joseph Ngake and Abednego Netshodwe after Mandla Masango had given Amakhosi a first-half lead in front of a sold-out crowd.

While the information from Pirates’ side have been scarce, Chiefs legends were coached by Thabo Mooki and Doctor Khumalo.

Kaizer Chiefs XI: Brian Baloyi, Cyril Nzama, Nhlanhla Kubeka, Tsepo Masilela, Morgan Gould, Stanton Fredericks, Jabu (Pule) Mahlangu, Derrick Spencer, Mandla Masango, David Radebe, Siyabonga Nomvethe.

Pirates starting XI: Okpara, Kelebogile Mabe, Innocent Mdledle, Abednego Netshodwe, Lucky Lekgwathi, Naughty Mokoena, Dumisani Ngobe, Lebogang Mokoena, Tlou Segolela, Benedict Vilakazi, James Mothobi
