There’s pontential of another wildly dramatic transfer between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns after Monnapule Saleng’s move to Chloorkop.

According to SuperSport TV’s Karabo Phasha, the Buccaneers are finalising a deal to sign Khuliso Mudau from Sundowns.

KHULISO MUDAU TO LEAVE MAMELODI SUNDOWNS FOR SOWETO?

The 30-year-old from Musina was reportedly close to signing a new deal earlier this Betway Premiership season.

However, tensions between the former Black Leopards star and Mamelodi Sundowns led to Mudau missing training sessions and several matches.

He later returned to action despite the two parties failing to reach an agreement, leaving the club at risk of losing him for free when his contract expires in June.

According to Phasha, Mudau is on his way to Orlando Pirates in the current transfer window.

“Orlando Pirates are closing in on a potential move for Khuliso Mudau. We understand he is on his way to the Buccaneers in this window,” the report said.

KHULISO MUDAU AT CHLOORKOP

The player known as ‘Sailor’ joined the 2016 CAF Champions League holders in October 2020 from Black Leopards.

He has made 169 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and creating six assists. Mudau is a fully established Bafana Bafana international with 31 caps.

Mudau has lifted an incredible five consecutive Betway Premiership titles, the African Football League, the Nedbank Cup, and the MTN 8 Cup. After helping to Sundowns to the 2025 CAF Champions League final, two semifinals and two quarterfinals, he is rated as the best right-back in Africa.

Sundowns’ remaining right-back options could be Thapelo Morena, Zuko Mdutyelwa and Kegan Johannes.

POTENTIAL COMPETITION AT ORLANDO PIRATES

Should Mudau make the dramatic switch to the Buccaneers, he will face firm competition for the right-back shirt. Orlando Pirates’ options include Deano Van Rooyen, Thabiso Lebitso and Bandile Shandu.
