Pirates striker’s agent speaks out

After missing 18 straight matches for Orlando Pirates, questions have been asked about Boitumelo Radiopane’s future.

His agent, Mike Makaab, has insisted there is no cause for concern.

EARLY PROMISE UNDER ABDESLAM OUADDOU

After the off-season change that brought Abdeslam Ouaddou to Soweto, Radiopane actually began the 2025/26 campaign with a head start.

The School of Excellence and Orlando Pirates reserve team product featured early across all competitions, making four appearances and even creating an assist. For a brief moment, he looked set to lead the line.

The last appearance came in the high-stakes MTN8 first-leg clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at Orlando Stadium on 16 August.

Evidence Makgopa and Yanela Mbuthuma shared the striker’s jersey, while Tshegofatso Mabasa drifted in and out.

That absence soon fed rumours. A January loan? A quiet exit?

MIKE MAKAAB RESPONDS

Veteran agent Mike Makaab has turned down the noise, making it clear the striker’s absence had nothing to do with tactical rejection.

Radiopane, he explained, suffered a knock that required rehabilitation, and it kept him sidelined longer than many realised. “Boitumelo Radiopane, unfortunately, got an injury a few weeks ago,” Makaab told FARPost. “He recently completed his rehabilitation and joined the team for full training,” the former Orlanod Pirates coach concluded.

Coming up next for the Sea Robbers is a trip to KwaZulu-Natal to battle Durban City on Saturday, 29 November. Kick off will be at 15:30 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
