Pirates name experienced XI for Betway Premiership opener, Ncikazi fires warning
Orlando Pirates have named a strong and experienced starting line-up for their opening 2026/27 Betway Premiership match against Milford FC at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday afternoon.
New head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has opted to trust the core of last season’s title-winning squad, with none of the club’s new signings included in the starting XI. However, six of the new arrivals have been named on the bench and could make their Pirates debuts later in the match.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi warned his players against underestimating the newly promoted Milford FC. “Our preparations have gone well, but now we have to apply ourselves on the field,” said Ncikazi. “Our biggest opponent will be complacency. We cannot take Milford lightly because they are champions of their league. They are a quality team and they deserve our respect.”
Ncikazi added that with every team starting the season on zero points, Pirates must remain focused on executing their game plan and securing all three points. “As it stands, every team starts with no points. Our responsibility is to implement what we have prepared, respect our opponents, and fight for victory.”
Orlando Pirates starting XI (4-3-3):
Sipho Chaine – Sebelebele, Sibisi, Hotto, Seema – Mbatha, Patrick, Dansin – Appollis, Moremi, Mbuthuma.
Substitutes:
Dladla, Lungu, Rapoo, Zulu, Kgositsile, Masilela, Mariko, Mthiyane, Radiopane.
