Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns played to a goalless draw on Saturday afternoon in the MTN8 semi final first leg.
The stalemate at Orlando Stadium leaves Mamelodi Sundowns with an upper hand ahead of the second leg.
The first half ended nil all as both sides couldn’t find the back of the net. Pirates were the first side to send a theat. Monnapule Saleng hit the post in the 12th minute with his effort from a free kick.
Later on, debutant Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo tried to score from a long range, however Sundowns goalie Ronwen Williams was alert.

The second half was less in action, Orlando Pirates were a better side throughout. Masandawana couldn’t penetrate the strong Pirates defence.
Williams denied Zakhele Lepasa from opening the scoring in the 51st minute. Kermit Erasmus was introduced in the 63rd minute making his second debut against his former side.
The second leg of the competition will be played on October 22nd at Peter Mokaba.
On Sunday afternoon, Kaizer Chiefs host KZN side AmaZulu in the second semi final. Kickoff at FNB Stadium is at 15:30.
