Orlando Pirates will face 23-times Isreali champions Maccabi Tel Aviv in a pre-season friendly during their training camp in Spain.
The Buccaneers will head to Europe for a pre-season camp in Spain between 9 and 20 July, as previously reported by iDiski Times.
Even though the club are yet to officially confirm the details of their trip, players have been asked to secure visas for Europe.
Meanwhile, Maccabi Tel Aviv have confirmed that they will face the Buccaneers in a friendly match on 13 July.
“Maccabi Tel Aviv will kick off the pre-season training camp in Marbella, Spain with a practice match against South Africa’s giants Orlando Pirates on July 13th,” the club stated on their website.
“Coached by Jose Riviero, the Bucaneers who won the South African league title nine times and reached the CAF Confederations Cup final twice (2015 and 2021/22) finished last season’s South African league campaign in the runners-up spot as well as [with] two South African Cups.”
Maccabi will also face English Premier League side AFC Bournemouth three days after meeting Pirates.
The games will serve the Israelian side as preparation for their UEFA Conference League second qualifying round clash against Moldavian side Petrocub-Hincesti.
