Pirates Confed Cup Prize Money Earnings Revealed

Orlando Pirates have reason to celebrate after reaching the CAF Confederations Cup final, and their success on the pitch has also earned them a lofty amount of money.

The Buccaneers beat Al Ahli Tripoli 2-1 on aggregate despite losing their semi-final second leg 1-0 at Orlando Stadium on Sunday.

Their 2-0 away win in Benghazi laid the foundation for Friday’s CAF Confed Cup final in Nigeria, where they will face RS Berkane.

The Moroccan side beat TP Mazembe 4-2 on aggregate thanks to a brilliant 4-1 home victory on Sunday evening after losing the first leg in DR Congo 1-0.

And Pirates on-field exploits have also seen them pocket some decent prize money this season so far, as they have now have already ensured a windfall of R10.2 million.

Both finalists are guaranteed R10.2 million ($625 000) for reaching this stage of the competition, however, double as much is still up for grabs over the 90 minutes in Uyo on Friday.

The winner of the competition will earn R20.4 million ($1.25 million), which double of what the runners-up will get.
