Pirates coach Ouaddou returns in arm sling, opens up on accident

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has finally spoken about the accident he was involved in last month.

Ouaddou, Tapelo Xoki and other Pirates staff members were involved in a road traffic incident after their match against Chippa United on 31 August. They were hospitalised for several days before they were discharged.

On Tuesday, the Orlando Pirates coach was seen wearing an arm sling during the team’s training ahead of the MTN8 final on Saturday.

“Of course, the club has issued a statement about the accident, but this is not the right place to speak about it,” said Ouaddou as per iDiski Times.

“I’m a bit emotional, of course, not for reaching the final but a bit emotional that I’m speaking to you today. For that even though I said that I don’t want to come back on the event [to talk about it].

“I’d like to thank all the personnel of the hospital, all the South African competencies that they did a very big job for me to be able to sit here and speak to you and in order to manage the game this weekend.

“So, thanks to all the personnel in the clinic, doctors and everybody in that hospital,” Ouaddou said.

Pirates won the MTN8 three times under the previous coach Jose Riveiro. Ouaddou will look to win his first silverware on Saturday when the Buccaneers play Stellenbosch in the MTN8 final in Mbombela.

Can the Buccaneers claim their first trophy of the season under Ouaddou?
