Orlando Pirates coach Mandla Ncikazi has issued an apology after losing to Kaizer Chiefs in the league for the second time this season.
The defeat at Orlando Pirates, in fact, marked their third consecutive league defeat dating back to last season thatNcikazi admits us unacceptable for the Soweto giants.
Goals from Reeve Frosler and Eric Mathoho in each half ensured Kwame Peprah’s equaliser was nothing more than a consolation in a match that they described as one they ‘should not have lost‘.
“I want to take the opportunity to apologise to the ‘Happy People’, supporters of Orlando Pirates, management and everyone who likes the club, it’s not the result this club deserves, you can’t lose twice to Kaizer Chiefs in one season,” he said.
“I just hope they still trust the processes that we have a team, that all eleven players injured who were regulars previous season, they also understand that there was a change in leadership in between the season.
“So one, without making any excuses, the supporters of Orlando Pirates, management, don’t deserve what happened. On behalf of the technical team, we’re disappointed and apologise.
“I hope they keep the faith and keep hope, it has to change, we must change, we can still improve and be better with time.”
Pirates will look to bounce back when they face Marumo Gallants in the Nedbank Cup in mid-week before hosting Royal Leopards on Sunday in the CAF Confedertion Cup.
