Pirates Beat Chiefs In DDC Soweto Derby

Former iDiskiTV analyst Joseph ‘Duku Duku’ Makhanya collected his first win as Orlando Pirates DStv Diski Challenge coach, beating their rivals in the Soweto Derby on Sunday.

Pirates opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Relebohile Ratomo stole the ball from the Chiefs defence and superbly finished it over the Amakhosi goalkeeper who was caught off his line.

However, their lead lasted less than five minutes as Mduduzi Shabalala scored directly from a corner following a howler by the Pirates keeper.

Pirates regained their lead just before the break when another mistake in the Chiefs defence presented the ball for Ratomo on a silver platter and the Bucs forward finished from the edge of the box.

The Sea Robbers even made it 3-1 as Chiefs keeper Lungile Nkosi fumbled a ball, which Samuel Kabini used to his advantage and finished from a tight angle.

Chiefs thought they had pulled one back in the 65th minute but their goal was chalked off due to offside.

The Glamour Boys did score their second in the 76th minute thanks to a powerful header by Wandile Duba, setting up a great finish to the game.

In the end, though, Pirates beat the DStv Diski Shield champions 3-2, making it a winning debut for their new coach.
