Pipelines to take a year to repair following KZN floods

Published

on

Two water pipelines damaged during the recent KwaZulu-Natal floods will be repaired and restored by June 2023.

That’s according to eThekwini Municipal mayor Mxolisi Kaunda.

Heavy downpours battered the province in April, causing substantial damage to infrastructure and killing over 400 people.

Kaunda updated on the implementation of water rationing which begins next week.

He says the rationing is required to manage the shortfall of water.

“While Umgeni Water continues to make progress in providing full contract volumes of drinking water to eThekwini Municipality, a shortfall remains and will be eradicated when the damaged pipelines are repaired,” he said.
