PICS: Human Skulls Allegedly Swept Away From Graveyard By KZN Floods

At least 11 people in Kwa-Zulu Natal province are said to have died following the devastating floods that swept away bridges, and homes.

The graveyards were also not spared and photos of alleged human skulls and bones that were spotted at the Ntuzuma graveyard in Kwa-Zulu Natal washed away by floods have gone viral on social media.

It is also around the area in Ntuzuma that a whole bridge was washed away by the floods and it is suspected that some people might have drowned when the bridge collapsed while they were crossing.

East Coast Radio traffic updates cite that Inanda Road in Ntuzuma has completely collapsed, with no access in and out of Ntuzuma through the main road.

This incident has raised concerns over the depth of graves in which these washed away skulls have emerged from. Some critics argue that the graves were maybe shallow and not necessarily six feet as expected.

Quarry road along the M19 to Umngeni, the Palmeit River which runs through the settlement and the rain from the M19 also flooded the surrounding areas.

ANC veteran, Tony Yengeni following the disastrous floods in Kwa-Zulu Natal which has displayed many citizens, has called for government to call for a national disaster and assist those who have been affected.

He says the army must move swiftly to stabilise the situation in Kwa-Zulu Natal province.

Cooperative governance and traditional affairs minister, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma has issued a list of emergency contacts and advised KZN residents to stay safe.

Critics however feel this is not enough, but government must take action to help people on the ground.

“Please stay safe from the floods affecting parts of KZN. Make use of the places of safety that have been provided by your local government. For disaster related emergencies contact your local centre for assistance,” she said.
