A mother (47) wants justice for her daughter (13), who was allegedly beaten up by her teacher in June, leaving her thumb broken.
After the school in Daveyton allegedly failed to address the matter, the mum opened a case last week. The mum said her daughter, who’s in grade 7, was with her friends when they were accused of insulting a teacher. They were then called to the library.
“The teacher decided to discipline them by beating them with a pipe” she said.
The mum said this was not the first time as the same teacher had allegedly beaten her child earlier this year.
An education official said they were still investigating the matter and would comment once completed.
Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said a case of assault was opened and the suspect was bust on Friday, 12 August, and is out on bail.
