Photo of Thabiso Lebitso sends Pirates fans into frenzy

Orlando Pirates supporters were left buzzing after spotting Thabiso Lebitso back in training this week.

The dynamic right-back has been sidelined since January due to a string of injuries that have plagued his time with the Buccaneers. Since joining from Chippa United, Lebitso has struggled for consistent game time, making fewer than 10 league appearances due to injuries.

Despite his setbacks, the 28-year-old remains a fan favourite. He immediately impressed when he broke into the first team, and his stunning long-range strike against Kaizer Chiefs earned the Premiership Goal of the Month award in April 2024.

Orlando Pirates fans go crazy after seeing Thabiso Lebitso training

On Tuesday, Pirates shared photos from a training session following their MTN8 semi-final triumph over Mamelodi Sundowns.

Among the images was Lebitso, much to the delight of the Bucs faithful, who were encouraged to see that the defender is still part of the squad and working towards a comeback.

Lebitso is yet to feature for Pirates this season but could make a surprise appearance against Orbit College on Tuesday. First-choice right-back Deano van Rooyen is injured and it’s more likely that Abdeslam Ouaddou could start with Bandile Shandu or Tshepo Mashiloane on the right hand side of defence.

Fans though, feel like this is a perfect opportunity for Lebitso to impress the coach.

“I’m happy to see Lebitso and Ndlozi back, and do hope you can start one of the two tomorrow and allow Sebelebele to play the right wing then Mofokeng plays number 10. You can then rest Tito, let him rest and find himself,” @Zukisani_M91 tweeted.

“Unleash Lebitos and sell that Mshiloane fraud please!” tweeted @Ekasibusiness20.

Should Lebitso start ahead of Mashiloane?
