Phindile Gwala recovers from serious illness

South African actress Phindile Gwala has opened up about a recent health scare that landed her in hospital, revealing how the frightening experience left her and her family shaken.

The star took to social media to share a video from the hospital, explaining that she had been admitted after suddenly becoming severely ill over the past few days.

In her post, she reflected on how the experience reminded her of how fragile life can be.

“The past few days reminded me how precious life really is,” she wrote.

Gwala explained that the situation escalated quickly, despite rarely getting sick.

According to the actress, the day she was admitted was particularly distressing as her condition rapidly worsened.

“I was admitted to hospital after getting very sick. For someone who hardly ever gets sick, this really shook my family,” she shared.

She went on to describe the severity of her symptoms, saying she was vomiting continuously and even began coughing up blood. At one point, she became so weak that she struggled to speak.

“I was vomiting nonstop, even popping blood, and I couldn’t even speak,” she wrote.

The moment was especially emotional for her family, as her 18-year-old daughter had to step in to help care for her before she was taken to the hospital.

“My 18-year-old daughter had to bathe me before I was taken to hospital… something I will never forget,” she added.

Gwala also warned followers about a fast-spreading stomach illness that she said appears to be circulating and can be transmitted through the air, comparing it to the way COVID-19 spreads.

She noted that symptoms may vary from person to person, with some experiencing mild effects while others, like herself, face more severe complications.

Despite the frightening experience, the actress expressed gratitude for her recovery and the support she received from loved ones.

“I’m sharing this because I’m incredibly grateful to be here today. Grateful for life, for my family, friends and for everyone who checked on me,” she said.

She ended her message by urging people to prioritise their health and take precautions, reminding followers that good health is often taken for granted until something goes wrong.

“Please be safe out there and protect your loved ones. Health is something we often take for granted until it shakes us,” she wrote.
