Petro Coach – We Have To Be Careful

While their first leg 3-0 win over Cape Town City has put them in a commanding position, Petro De Luanda coach Alexandre Santos has warned that their CAF Champions League tie isn’t over yet, and his team will need to repeat their performance.

The Angolan club, who were semi-finalists last season, have one foot in the door of the Group Stages, after their win over City at the DHL Stadium on Saturday.

However Santos has insisted his team needs to approach the second leg in the right frame of mind, and make sure that the hard work they did in the first leg doesn’t come unstuck.

“I have a team that I put more calm in the changing room because it’s not finished,” Santos said.

“Every time when we score three goals – okay it’s more difficult for Cape Town – but in the last eliminatory, in the first five minutes we control all the game against Black Bulls, and in the first moment then they go in our goal, they score, and the second moment almost score and in five minutes or 10 minutes we could lose 2-0 and all the game maybe change?

“We have to be careful, but we have to play like [in the first leg]. I hope we can control more the game with the ball because the players like, but we have to go inside of that second leg game with the same ambition to win, to do three points, to make better than the opponent.

“That is the main thing that I see in my players is the rigour, the motivation and the ambition to win all the games that we go inside.”
