Black Leopards are officially safe from relegation in the GladAfrica Championship following a 2-1 win against Cape Town Spurs on Sunday.

The result meant Leopards are now 10th with 35 points from 28 matches, seven points above the relegation spot.

Lidoda Duvha were strong candidates to face the chop alongside already relegated side Jomo Cosmos, but a change of fortunes saw them win their last six league matches.

“The stress levels will go down now because we know that whatever happens the bottom clubs are not going to catch us,” said Leopards coach Joel Masutha after the match.

“But even though we are safe, we still need to play the last two games to win and we will be very serious. We are not going to take any game for granted.

“The situation that we were in for the past two, three months has been very stressful. Credit must go to the boys because they never gave up. They fought to move from the bottom to be where we are, which many people had already written our obituary so I think the boys deserve all the credit,” he said.

Leopards last two matches will be a Vhembe Derby against Venda Football Academy before they wrap up their season away to Platinum City Rovers.
