Penny Lebyane

Veteran broadcaster and media personality Penny Lebyane has been appointed as the new Head of Communication at the Collen Mashawana Foundation, with her role taking effect immediately.

The appointment formalises a long-standing relationship between Lebyane and the foundation, which she has supported for its entire 14-year journey.

She joins the organisation at a pivotal moment as it prepares to celebrate its anniversary and roll out plans to extend its advocacy and social impact initiatives beyond South Africa’s borders.

Lebyane described the appointment as more than just a professional move, calling it a “calling.”

She reflected on having witnessed the foundation’s work up close over the years, particularly its efforts to restore dignity to the elderly and support vulnerable children.

Welcoming her into the role, founder and chairman Dr Collen Mashawana referred to the appointment as a “homecoming,” noting that Lebyane’s credibility, communication expertise and compassion align seamlessly with the foundation’s values.

He said her leadership would be instrumental as the organisation works towards expanding its footprint across the African continent.

In her new position, Lebyane will serve as the primary public voice of the foundation, oversee its communications strategy, manage key stakeholder relationships and help amplify stories centred on social justice and community upliftment.
