Brazil legend Pele has stated he feels ‘strong’ amid the news that he was moved to palliative end-of-life care in hospital.

He wrote on social media that he’s seeking to keep his fans ‘calm and positive’ amidst the global messages of support pouring in.

“I’m strong, with a lot of hope and I follow my treatment as usual,” he stated on his official Instagram account.

“I have a lot of faith in God and every message of love I receive from you all over the world keeps me full of energy.”

The 82-year-old was recovering and in stable condition following the diagnosis of bronchopneumonia, as per ESPN Brasil.

“He is still undergoing treatment and remains in stable condition,” his doctors said.

However, the statement Pele was made a few hours after local news outlet Folha de S.Paul reported that he’s receiving palliative after his body stopped responding to chemotherapy for the reported bowel cancer he’s been battling for the last year.
