Pearl Thusi’s testimony and police report about surviving an attack from convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester has resurfaced following her controversial tribute to DJ Warras at his memorial service on Friday, 19 December.

The media personality was criticised on social media after claiming she once shared a bed with the late star.

PEARL THUSI’S WARRAS TRIBUTE: WHAT DID SHE SAY?

In her tribute to DJ Warras, Pearl Thusi reflected on how she once shared a bed with the late star during a trip to Cape Town.

Pearl explained that the DJ was concerned about missing his early morning flight back home to Johannesburg.

She said, “He insisted we stay in the same room. He said we are going to put down pillows [between us] and said, ‘I  just need a cuddle.’”

Peatl continued: “I was worried about what people would think of me, but that’s not what’s happening. We’re literally brother and sister. And we did sleep and cuddle, and the pillows were there. He said ‘Thank you, my friend, I really appreciate it’”.

SURVIVING THABO BESTER

Pearl Thusi’s tribute to DJ Warras – which many labelled “attention-seeking” – also saw her account of encountering convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester trend.

The media personality first shared her harrowing experience of the knife-wielding criminal – popularly known as the “Facebook Rapist”, back in 2011. The actress and presenter relived the experience in Netflix’s new docuseries Beauty and the Bester, which was released in September.

The mother-of-one claimed that she had received a Facebook invite from Bester to audition for a TV gig in Sandton that paid R70 000 a month.

Pearl accompanied Bester to the audition in her car, but soon realised that Bester had lured her under false pretences. In the car, Bester pulled out a knife and threatened her life.

She said: “My mind is racing, my adrenaline is pumping. I’d never felt so stupid. I asked him, ‘Why are you doing this?’”

Pearl Thusi convinced Thabo Bester to visit her pastor and even gifted him a Bible.

Although she declined to call the police, she claims that Bester ended up in the back of a police van.

She emotionally added, “I had no clue what I was dealing with; he is a psychopath. I couldnt have helped him.”

Pearl stated that she regretted not reporting the incident. She added, “Maybe I could’ve gotten him locked up [sooner], and  I could’ve saved someone’s life.”
