Pearl Thusi goes after broke Zola 7 reminds Mzansi of his GBV allegations

On Twitter, fans were up in arms speaking up for the musician and television presenter Zola 7. Fans frowned upon Mzansi celebrities not doing anything to help  Zola in dire situations. Mzansi’s celebs were accused of being two-faced as they; have pictures posing with Zola.

Pearl Thusi reminded Mzansi that there are former gender-based violence claims against Zola in the midst of it all. If Zola is to die at any moment from now, the very same celebrities will post those images and call Zola a legend.

Pearl said, “The awkward GBV moment kinda made things a bit tricky,” as a response to the statement that celebrities aren’t doing anything to help Zola.

What did Pearl mean?

If we remember, Zola’s career came down crashing at the speed of light when he was accused of abuse by some of his baby mamas. As we know, gender-based violence is one of the biggest social issues in Mzansi. When a celebrity is facing abuse allegations, their career takes a knock. Look at the likes of the radio personality Somizi Mhlongo, the actor SK Khoza, the radio presenter Dj Fresh and many more. When Zola was accused of abuse, his songs stopped being playlisted on the radio, he lost his show and slowly lost his stature in the industry.

Pearl’s words could mean Zola bought all the misfortunes he’s currently facing to himself. Her words could also mean; since Zola was accused of GBV and that was the end of his career, Pearl personally will not be one of the people who uplift the rapper.

However, Pearl was reminded of how she laughed at Bonang Matheba after Queen B’s abuse allegation against Euphonik. Euphonik was accused of rape and gender-based violence by more than one woman, yet, Pearl is still friends with him. Crying domestic violence accusations on Zola’s matter when she’s close with someone accused of abuse raised many eyebrows in the social media streets.

With Zola 7, most Mzansi will be touched as he was once an iconic figure who helped the poor. On his television show Zola 7, he helped people from different backgrounds reach their dreams. No other South African celebrity has ever done that for their fans. He did some of the things to build orphans a home, help an insecure girl with her dental problems, and take someone to a restaurant for the first time. Zola helped people with their dreams, no matter how big or small they were. Now, when people see him struggle, they feel it is unfair.

Zola presented UTatakho

After years of media backlash, Zola presented the show UTatakho on Mzansi Magic, and nobody brought up the abuse allegations. Currently, he doesn’t have any means of income, and that’s his biggest problem. It didn’t sit in well with many South Africans, whatever Pearl meant.
