Parker In Tears As He Sends Message To Motaung

Kaizer Chiefs captain Bernard Parker could not hold back the tears as he dedicated his Soweto Derby Man of the Match to Kaizer Motaung.

Parker represents a much-maligned figure amongst the Amakhosi faithful despite his achievements for the club over the last decade while his leadership skills saw him rewarded with the captain’s armband.

However, even his harshest of critics were silenced in after the 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium in which he ran the show from midfield and bagged an assist for Reeve Froslers’ stunning opener.

His display drew widespread plaudits and head coach Stuart Baxter said it was one of the best displays he’s ever seen from a PSL player.

“As a footballer, throughout my career. I always made sure I put in a good performance, if I put in a good performance everything else will follow,” Parker said.

“I am a hard worker through my career. I have worked very hard and still working hard to make history. Today was a historic day, you know…on my 30th derby. I got the Man of the Match. Out of these 30 derbies, I won nine, I drew eight and lost four.

“I think that is a good record for me. It is an honour to represent Kaizer Chiefs and being part of the Soweto Derby.

“This is here, goes out to Mr. [Kaizer] Motaung. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to represent this big club, I represent it with great honour,” he said before trying to hold back the tears.
