The management of Stanger Manor Primary School near Durban is under pressure from parents to launch an investigation into a teacher who allegedly said black parents are “dom” (stupid).

The teacher, whose name is known to Scrolla.Africa, also allegedly told Grade 4 learners that she hates black people.

According to parents taking up the matter, the comment was sparked after black learners repeatedly asked the teacher to allow them to go to the toilet during class.

The teacher allegedly got angry and made the racist remarks.

“My child said the teacher said she hates black people and our parents are dom (stupid),” one parent told Scrolla.Africa on Tuesday.

This morning, some of the angry parents visited the school to protest the alleged incident, and the principal spoke to them.

“We feel that they are trying to have the matter suppressed, but we want an investigation so that the teacher can be punished for the offensive remarks,” another parent said.

Muzi Mahlambi, the spokesperson for the KZN education department, said: “We will investigate the matter. We have zero tolerance for racism.”
