Bafana Bafana midfielder Genino Palace is closing in on a move to the DStv Premiership with Stellenbosch FC.
The former SC Braga midfielder has shone on his first foray into South African football but was part of the Maritzburg United squad that suffered relegation.
Despite that, he was one of the shining lights of the club and earned recognition by his inclusion in the Cosafa Cup squad that finished third in KwaZulu Natal this month.
Stellenbosch made the first move for the technically gifted midfielder last month, as reported by this website and sources within the club have confirmed a bid has been accepted.
While there were some considerations over the potential signing of Jesse Donn from Matsatsansa, it appears that move has been called off and Palace will now fill the void of Ibraheem Jabaar, who landed a move to Israeli Premier League side Maccabi Petah Tikva.
This publication understands the two parties have now agreed on personal terms ahead of the move becoming official and heading to the Cape Winelands for the 2023/24 campaign.
