Over 30,000 Tickets Sold For AmaZulu vs Chiefs

Just over 30,000 tickets have been sold for the MTN8 semi-final second leg between AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday (15:30), iDiski Times has learnt.

However, the source was confident the tickets that are left are set to be sold out before the match kicks off, as Chiefs have huge following in Durban.

If the tickets are sold out, it will mean that both second leg semi-finals were sold out, after Orlando Pirates crushed Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 at a sold out Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Kermit Erasmus and two goals from rising star winger Monnapule Saleng were enough to see the Pretoria giants run riot, while Downs were failing to trouble Siyabonga Mpontshane in goals.

On the other hand, Usuthu hold a slender lead over Chiefs, after scoring in a 1-1 draw at FNB Stadium in the first leg semi-final earlier this month.

That means Chiefs will have to come out and take the game to Usuthu, who promised to “fight like donkeys” to reach their first ever MTN8 final in the PSL era.

Chiefs need a score win to go through and meet their bitter rivals Pirates in the final on 5 November at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

For Usuthu, since they scored that all-important away goal through Gabadinho Mhango, they will need to keep things as they are.

Interestingly, the last time Chiefs won the MTN8 trophy was at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in 2014, beating Pirates 1-0 in the final.

Pirates, too, last won the Wafa Wafa Cup at the same venue in 2020, beating Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1.
