Ouaddou makes honest admission on Pirates title chances

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has not thrown in the towel despite his side’s 2-2 draw with Richards Bay on Friday evening.

A last-minute goal from Lebone Seema saved the Buccaneers‘ blushes away from home but at the same time, it also saw them drop points against log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

With six matches still to go, Pirates are a point behind Masandawana; however, the Brazilians still have a game in hand.

Speaking after the draw, Ouaddou felt Pirates were still in the title race.

“I think there is a little bit of disappointment because it’s two points that we lost in this race,” he said on SuperSport TV.

“But the guys fight till the end. Let’s work until the end like I said.

“Lot of people can think it’s over but we don’t think like that. We have to play our game until the end.”

Ouaddou not giving up on Pirates title chase

Ouaddou insists his side is not out of it yet even though they lost two valuable points in the critical phase of the season.

“Let’s congratulate the boys with the character because they come back they scored two goals. It’s a positive point but I think we lost two points,” he said.

Ouaddou has won two trophies since joining Pirates in July and his dream of winning a treble in his first season looks unlikely. Another loss or draw will surely see the Buccaneers’league title collapse.

Do you think Pirates can still win the league?
