Ouaddou explains why new Pirates signings did not play

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has explained why three new signings did not feature against Sekhukhune United.

The Buccaneers were held to a goalless draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The draw sees the Sea Robbers remain second on the log level on points with leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Against Babino Noko, fans were unhappy with the coach’s starting lineup given the options he had. This January, Pirates have signed striker Andre de Jong from Stellenbosch, and midfielder Daniel Msendami and defender Mpho Chabatsane.

None of the trio feauted and Ouaddou explained why.

Ouaddou says new Pirates players are ready

“Quickly, I was about their preparation, they were with us in the camp, so they are fit and ready, and just have to wait for when the coach and team need them,” said Ouaddou.

“They will come to help us for sure, and I’m happy with what I’ve seen in the camp about their competitiveness.

“But you know, before coming to the club. We have a scouting department about bringing the players about our identity and the qualities, surely we will be able to see them on the pitch,” the ex-Fulham player added.

Ouaddou has bagged two trophies as Orlando Pirates coach in the seven months he has been at the club. That alone is impressive but supporters have always wanted the Betway Premiership and the CAF Champions League.

With the team out of CAF, the league is the only title the fans are interested in.

Can Pirates win the league?
