Former Paralympic medalist Oscar Pistorius’ love life has rekindled widespread controversy after social media users saw his girlfriend’s uncanny resemblance to his late girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
Oscar spent nearly a decade behind bars following his conviction of culpable homicide in 2014 after Reeva was shot and killed in the early hours of Valentine’s Day in 2013.

Oscar Pistorius’ girlfriend dubbed a doppelganger
In 2024, BONA reported that the ex-athlete found new love in Rita Greyling, a finance transformation consultant, months after he was released from prison on parole. Like Reeva, Rita has blonde hair, a slim physique, and similar facial features.
At the time, Reeva’s sister, Simone Cowburn, expressed horror after seeing a picture of Oscar’s new love, telling Mail Online, ”
I’m just looking at this woman’s photographs, and I have goosebumps and shivers going down my spine at this moment. What shocks me is that she looks so much like my Reeva. She is the same build, the same face and hair, even the same eyes. Is he that sick that he wanted to find a lookalike?”
Simone added, “I have to ask myself, having killed Reeva, did he want to replace her with another? I also have to ask myself how a woman can close her eyes at night and go to sleep with a man she knows fired four bullets that mutilate flesh into a woman he says he loved. How can you cuddle up to a man that you know has that trigger lurking inside him?”

South Africans reintroduced to Rita Greyling
On 1 August 2026, X user @AuntyScoobyDoo shared a screenshot of a Frontline article, showing Oscar and Rita.
“The new girlfriend looks like Reeva,” they wrote.
The post led many local members of the online community to head to the comment section, echoing how Reeva and Rita could pass as sisters or even the same person.

A stunned @Laureasons_ exclaimed, “He’s a literal convicted murderer, and she looks like the woman he murdered. That’s literally sick!”
Apparently murder is not enough to disqualify you from being dateable,” said @KeshanNaidoo3.
@Chelsea_Agenda claimed, “He murdered his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day. He’s the most unromantic person ever, yet there are still women willing to be with him. I bet she’ll come out with some sob story about how abusive and controlling he is in a couple of years.”
@Beedagal commented, “What a brave woman.”
Daily Mail reported that Oscar lives a quiet life in Pretoria, swapping a clean-shaven face for a grey beard.
