The image circulated widely online, with social media users sharing differing opinions about the encounter. While some criticised the DJ, others argued there was not enough context to judge what had happened.

Oscar Mbo has since stepped in to give his side of the story, saying the incident unfolded very differently from how it has been portrayed online.

“They followed me into the store”

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Oscar explained that the fan and her partner first spotted him outside a store before following him inside. He claimed they lingered in the shop, pretending to browse instead of simply approaching him.

According to the DJ, the situation became uncomfortable when a store assistant approached to assist him.

Oscar alleged that the fan interrupted the conversation with the assistant to ask for a photo without first greeting him.

He suggested that a simple, respectful introduction would have made the interaction more pleasant.

Social media remains divided

Oscar’s explanation quickly sparked another round of reactions online.

Some users sympathised with the musician, saying celebrities also deserve personal space and should be approached respectfully.

Others, however, felt that public figures should expect fans to be excited when they encounter them in public, with some arguing that the interaction could have been handled differently.

The incident has reignited conversations about celebrity privacy and fan etiquette, with many debating where the line should be drawn when meeting public figures unexpectedly.

As the discussion continues online, Oscar Mbo’s response has added important context to a story that had already gained significant traction on social media.
