Not many expected Orlando Pirates to sign goalkeeper Sipho Chaine, including the goalkeeper himself!
Chaine joined the Buccaneers at the beginning of the season from Chippa United as a ‘back-up’ keeper.
Ultimately, Chaine was far from a back-up player. In fact, the shot-stopper proved to be one of the most important players for Jose Riveiro!
Chaine made 23 appearances for the Orlando Pirates this season, keeping seven clean sheets for the club.
He has since opened up on his surprise rise to stardom at the Soweto giants.

“For me, it was really unexpected and it came as a shock to me as well.” Chaine told iDiskiTimes.
“It was a shock to everyone. Coming to the greatest club, coming to Orlando Pirates.
“So much to have established, coming to this environment that always strives to win each and every game.
“I think for me it was a great achievement at how I pushed myself and how I always demanded from myself.”

In other news, Swallows FC chairman David Mogashoa has confirmed that he’ll be willing to re-sign struggling Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo.
Ngcobo has struggled to replicate the form that saw him win the Defender of The Season award with Swallows.
Despite being at Naturena for two seasons now, Ngcobo hasn’t adjusted to life as a Glamour Boy.
And now, Swallows FC chairman David Mogashoa has offered him a ‘get out of jail free’ card!

“Very disappointed, I think he’s also disappointed that he did not get game time. I’m open to talks if they (Kaizer Chiefs) want to send him out, I’m willing to take him.” – Swallows FC chairman David Mogashoa told SoccerLaduma.
“He did very well at Swallows. I always say to people the pressure at Swallows is not the same pressure at Chiefs. You can be a very good player at Swallows and be a bad player at Chiefs.”
