Orlando Pirates are unable to use one of their Diski Challenge new recruits.

This is because the player is yet to receive his clearance from Cape Town Spurs FC.

The Cape side are reportedly blocking the move of one of their talented defenders to the Buccaneers.

Spurs blocking defender’s move to Orlando Pirates

20-year-old defender Reece Braithwaite’s Orlando Pirates dream has been placed on hold.

The former Cape Town Spurs man has been training with the Buccaneers’ reserve side over recent weeks.

He’s however unable to be registered by the Soweto giants as Cape Town Spurs are refusing to give him his clearance.

According to the latest reports, not even the pleas of Braithwaite’s parents are being entertained by Spurs.

The Cape side have since referred the matter to their legal team, who most recently faced a similar legal battle against Kaizer Chiefs FC.

“Although the mother body dismissed their grievance in arbitration, Spurs are still holding off on granting Braithwaite his release, slowing down what appears to be an inevitable move to the Buccaneers,” – a SABC Sport report read.

“It’s understood the player’s family has urged the club to resolve the issue swiftly. Spurs have instead referred Braithwaite to their legal representatives and his management team, Football First.”

Bucs Diski team flying

Orlando Pirates will be hoping to sort the matter out as soon as possible. The Buccaneers are currently leading the way in the Diski Challenge.

Reece Braithwaite could add some further solidity to their defence the for the second half of the campaign. The Bucs reserves currently sit atop the log standings. They enjoy a five point lead over second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns.
