Orlando Pirates conclude their pre-season tour of Spain on Friday with a clash against Saudi Pro League outfit NEOM at the Marbella Football Center.
The fixture marks the final step in the Buccaneers‘ preparations for the 2026/27 season, a campaign that promises major challenges both domestically and in continental competition.
Their opponents are also entering the new season with growing ambitions after an impressive debut campaign in the Saudi Pro League, where NEOM quickly established themselves as one of the league’s emerging forces.
For both teams, the match offers one last opportunity to fine-tune tactics and build momentum before competitive football returns.
Orlando Pirates enjoying pre-season
Pirates began their Spanish tour with a 1-1 draw against Cordoba before recording an encouraging 2-1 victory over Cadiz. They then suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Saudi giants Al-Ittihad but responded well by edging Las Palmas 1-0 on Wednesday.
Overall, it has been a productive pre-season for new head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, who has had the chance to assess his squad and gradually implement his ideas ahead of the new campaign.
With the season fast approaching, Ouaddou is expected to stick with the core of the team that featured regularly during the tour, while allowing new signings to make an impact from the bench in the second half.
