Orlando Pirates news: Mabasa, Msendani, Mbatha, Mbule

Today’s Orlando Pirates news wrap looks at the latest transfer rumours and a potential change for Bafana at AFCON.

Msendani hints at Orlando Pirates, Chiefs move in the future

25-year-old Marumo Gallants striker Daniel Msendani has hinted at making his next big move. He scored three goals and assisted three for Gallants last term.

Orlando Pirates could live to regret selling Mabasa

Tshegofatso Mabasa is at a crossroads. Once the most lethal marksman in the country, he’s now playing second and even third fiddle to Evidence Makgopa and Yanela Mbuthuma. This fall down the pecking order also saw his chances of a Bafana Bafana recall go up in flames at an inopportune time. Mabasa’s only made five league appearances all season. Fans are divided on the issue. Some seem happy to say goodbye, while others are concerned that Mabasa’s undoubted class will see him succeed at a club like Kaizer Chiefs.

Bafana meet Group F runners-up in AFCON Round of 16

South Africa will meet the runners-up of Group F, containing Cameroon, the Ivory Coast, Gabon and Mozambique. The match goes ahead in Rabat on Sunday, 4 January at 21:00 local SA time. Mozambique meet Cameroon, and Gabon takes on the Ivory Coast. Thalente Mbatha could come back into the side at the expense of clubmate Sipho Mbule. Box-to-box operator Mbatha would provide more dynamism from deeper midfield areas, while Mbule has again struggled to impose himself in the final third.
