Orlando Pirates have announced that Jose Riveiro will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
In a statement released on Thursday, Pirates lauded Riveiro for his professionalism and commitment to the club’s best interests.
And that stems from the fact that he informed the management of his decision not to stay well on time.
Pirates said Riveiro’s decision to timeously let the management know of his intentions gives them an opportunity to prepare for the future.
Furthermore, Riveiro requested the Soweto giants to not make any detailed pronouncements on his decision.
And therefore, Pirates decided to hold on to their well wishes to Riveiro for an appropriate time.
Riveiro has already delivered FIVE major trophies at Pirates, and he could add more before his departure.
As things stand, Pirates are still in with a chance to win the Betway Premiership, CAF Champions League and Nedbank Cup.
The Buccaneers are second on the log while they are in the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League.
They face Marumo Gallants in the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup, and should they win, it would be their third successive final.

ORLANDO PIRATES ANNOUNCE JOSE RIVEIRO’S EXIT
“Orlando Pirates Football Club can reveal that José Riveiro will be stepping down from his position as Head Coach at the end of the season,” the club statement read.
“José Riveiro has informed management of his decision not to renew his contract beyond its current term. The Spanish mentor’s contract is due to expire at the end of this current campaign.
“His professionalism and commitment to the Club’s best interests prompted a timely announcement, ensuring business as usual for the remainder of the season while simultaneously creating an opportunity for the Club to prepare for the future.
“In accordance with the coach’s wishes, the Club will refrain from making detailed pronouncements at this time, reserving comprehensive tributes for a more appropriate occasion.”
