Despite Mamelodi Sundowns historic win over Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly, Lyle Lakay was the only player selected in the official Team of the Week.
Masandawana beat Al Ahly 1-0 at the FNB Stadium on Sunday, completing a historic double over the Egyptian giants.
Peter Shalulile scored the only goal of the day, netting from close range following a corner by Lyle Lakay.
The latter was the only Downs star picked in the CAFCL Team of the Week, while Angolan side Petro de Luanda had three players in the Best XI of match day four following their 3-0 win over Sagrada Esperanca.
It was already Lakay’s second nomination in the Team of the Week after he also made CAF’s Best XI following the 1-0 win over Al Ahly in Cairo.
AmaZulu opponents ES Setif, who beat Benni McCarthy’s men 2-0 on Saturday evening, also had one representative, namely attacking midfielder Akram Djahnit.
