The award-winning media personality, Olwethu Leshabane, has stepped into a new chapter in her life as a doula at the Blissful Births Maternity Clinic.

On Wednesday, 1 April, the mother of three took to her Instagram Stories to share the “birth preparation workshop”, which provides mothers and their partners with the essential information and the skills for childbirth.

OLWETHU EMBARKS ON NEW CAREER AS A DOULA

Olwethu hopped on Instagram to proudly announce the exciting news of her new career path: “There is something incredibly sacred about walking alongside a woman as she steps into motherhood, she began.

“I’m so proud to be walking this doula journey with @blissfulbirthsa – a space that truly honours pregnancy, birth, and beyond. So excited about what this journey will teach me and to soak up all the new learnings. Here, they don’t just “deliver babies, they support women,” she continued.

She also explained what she loves and appreciates about working as a doula at this maternity clinic in particular:

“As a doula, my role is to provide emotional, physical, and educational support – whether you’re preparing for birth, in the intensity of labour, or navigating those tender first days postpartum.”

“It’s about creating a safe, empowering, and deeply supported experience for both mom and partner,” she continued.

“What I love most about this practice is the holistic approach – from antenatal care and a beautiful homebirth unit to postnatal visits and ongoing support. It’s a full-circle journey into motherhood, held with intention and care,” she added.

“Because birth isn’t just a moment, it’s a memory that lives in your body forever. If you’re on your motherhood journey (or preparing for it), let us walk the journey with you,” she concluded.

OLWETHU’S PASSION FOR WOMEN RUNS DEEP

After a thorough look into Olwethu’s career moves over the years, it is clear that she really is a girl’s girl.

She’s passionate about brand alignment and creating initiatives, such as The Red Wings Project and Art of a Superwoman YouTube channel.

Similar to Meghan Markle, with her Confessions of a Female Founder podcast, Olwethu’s show explores all aspects of women’s empowerment.

In an interview with In Your Pocket, the Eastern Cape-born star discussed the essence of The Red Wings Project.

“I was visiting [the place] where our domestic assistant lived, and she told me about her next-door neighbour who had beaten up her granddaughter,” she began.

“This was an old lady whose children had left her with their children to raise. She didn’t have the means to purchase new underwear for the girl children as they were getting older, and one of the children stole underwear from the neighbour’s line because she had started her first period and soiled her panties,” she continued.

“The Red Wings Project was born to address the education gap around periods and to supply menstrual products to some of the most underserved communities,” she concluded.
