Young Africans SC have appointed former Mamelodi Sundowns and Platinum Stars coach Miguel Ángel Gamondi as their new head coach.

The Tanzanian giants didn’t waste time and have appointed a very experienced coach on the African continent.

Gamondi was working as co-coach with Neil Tovey at Masandawana and guided the club to the league victory in 2007, before later coaching Platinum Stars between 2007 and 2009.

He also worked as Wydad Club Athletic and CR Belouizdad, while his latest gig came at Ittihad Tanger in Morocco.

“I’m Miguel Gamondi, a coach from Argentina. I was working more than 20 years in African football,” he said in his unveiling video.

“I was coaching teams like Wydad Casablanca, Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa, CR Belouizdad in Algeria, Esperance in Tunis.

“I was lucky to get some good results, some good achievements with them.

“I’m very excited to join this big club with huge history. For me it’s one of the greatest clubs in the history, with incredible fans as well.

“I strongly believe, if we can work together – fans, management, players and technical staff, we can continue to bring success and even greater results.

“I’m really excited to join and hope to see you very soon.”

At Simba, he will replace Nasreddine Nabi, who opted not to renew his contract and Kaizer Chiefs had opened talks with him, which have somewhat stalled.
