SuperSport United have announced the signing of Senegalese international striker Serigne Mamour Niang – the younger brother of former Mamelodi Sundowns striker, as reported by iDiski Times.
Niang, 23, has been training with Amatsatsantsa for some time and he was part of the team that was in Durban for a mini-preseason.
The former Teungueth Rufisque striker also played a part in the friendly match against Uthongathi FC, which Gavin Hunt’s men won 3-1.
He played a vital role for Teungueth during the CAF Champions League last season, scoring two goals and assisted on one occasion in six matches he played.
On Thursday, SuperSport United confirm the arrival of Senegalese international striker on a one-and-a half year deal with an option to renew.
“We wanted to bring in a younger striker to compliment the experience we have upfront,” Gavin Hunt told the club’s media team.
“Niang is a typical number 9 and he will be able to take off some of the work load in our strike force.
“His aerial power is going to cause teams problems and I’m looking forward to pushing him to higher levels.”
Serigne Niang added: “I am very excited to join SuperSport United.
“Mame Niang told me that coach Gavin Hunt is like a father to all of his players and he’s pushed me to work hard during all of our training sessions. I’m looking forward to be meeting all the Matsatsantsa supporters.”
Niang becomes Hunt’s second January signing after the free addition of Zukile Kewuti.
