Al Nassr, the Saudi Arabian club of Cristiano Ronaldo, have sacked their coach Rudi Garcia, the club confirmed on Thursday.

The former AS Roma and Marseille coach only took charge of Al Nassr in July 2022 and was in charge of 26 games.

However, with Al Nassr finding themselves three points behind leaders Al Ittihad and after an alleged fall-out with superstar Ronaldo and other players in the dressing room, Garcia left the club “by mutual consent”.

Garcia won 18 of his 26 games in charge and only lost three, with one of the defeats coming against title rivals Al Ittihad, who sit three points ahead of them on the log with just seven games to be played.

Despite the arrival of Ronaldo in January, Al Nassr were also knocked out of the Arabian Super Cup and a fallout between Garcia and parts of the dressing room, including Ronaldo were reportedly the last straw.

Al Nassr also confirmed that U19 coach, Dinko Jelicic will be the new head coach of the first team.

Ronaldo has scored 11 goals in 10 games since his arrival but his club, who had been in the lead of the Saudi Pro League, have dropped six points, and relinquished the number one spot on the log.
