Kruger United have completed one of the most remarkable climbs in South African football after sealing the Motsepe Foundation Championship title with a dominant 3-1 win over Black Leopards at Kanyamazane Stadium.

The result not only confirmed them as champions of the 2025/26 season, but officially booked their place in the Betway Premiership ,sparking wild celebrations in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga.

KRUGER UNITED’S RAPID RISE

Formed in 2023 after the acquisition of Caroline FC’s status by local businessmen Bongani Wati and Basil Khoza, Kruger United wasted no time making noise. They dominated their ABC Motsepe League stream and powered through the national play-offs in 2024 to secure promotion to the professional ranks.

Instead of easing into life in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Kruger United went straight for the top.

Like any new club, they had to deal with squad adjustments, pressure, and the reality of competing against seasoned professionals week in and week out.

But the club’s leadership stuck to their vision, blending local talent with experienced players from the Betway Premiership who could guide the group.

Now, they step into the Betway Premiership not just as another promoted side, but as champions.

With the top spot now occupied, the focus shifts entirely to the scramble for second and third place, which grant entry into the promotion play-offs.
