Former Golden Arrows goalkeeper Stephan Loboué has joined Josef Zinnbauer’s technical team at Raja Club Athletic alongside the former Orlando Pirates coach’s new assistant.

The Moroccan giants unveiled Zinnbauer as their new head coach last week, replacing Mondher Kebaier, who was sacked for breach of contract, due being absent for the past nine days from training without an adequate reason, as reported by iDiski Times.

It is understood that Raja were initially looking for a new coach for next season after a disappointing 2022/23 campaign, which saw them getting knocked out of the CAF Champions League in the quarter-finals and failing to qualify for the 2023/24 edition of Africa’s elite club competition.

However, after the disappearance of Kebaier the club roped in Zinnbauer immediately on a two-year deal.

On Monday, the 12-time Botola Pro champions confirmed Marc Chervaz as Zinnbauer’s assistant coach. The German tactician was understood to be keen on Fadlu Davids joining him in Morocco, but the club’s leadership argued he would require a local assistant to overcome the barriers of not being able to speak French or Arabic, which they now achieved with Chervaz.

In addition, former Ivory Coast international Loboué was roped in as the goalkeeper coach. The 41-year-old is familiar with African football and also spent six months with Lamontville Golden Arrows in 2012, making two appearances for the club.

He joins Raja after working as goalkeeper coach for the second team of Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.
