The PSL has confirmed that Jomo Cosmos have withdrawn their compliant against Hungry Lions and midfielder Tshepo Mohlala.
Cosmos, who were relegated from the GladAfrica Championship during the recently concluded season had claimed that Mohlala was not properly registered by the Northern Cape side.
In the complaint sent to the league on 17 June 2022, Ezenkosi had claimed that Mohlala was registered with them in their Academy system for the SAFA Soweto LFA during the 2015 and 2016 season and they have never issued the player with a clearance.
This led to the PSL charging Lions for using the 22-year-old as a ‘defaulter’ following the evidence brought forward by Cosmos. He played in 10 league matches and one Nedbank cup match this past season.
Both Lions and the player were summoned to a Disciplinary hearing set for Monday, 27 June after being charged with contravening rule 55.1.3, and rule 31.1, rule 32.2, 32.3 of the PSL handbook.
“Before the commencement of the hearing, Jomo Cosmos elected to withdraw its complaint in totality,” said PSL Prosecutor Advocate Zola Majavu.
FARPost is in possession of the official correspondence sent to the parties concerned by Cosmos’ legal representative Chad Jacobs Attorneys dated 27 June 2022.
“Take note that the complainant (Jomo Cosmos) hereby withdraws the complaint instituted against the first (Tshepo Mohlala) and second respondent (Hungry Lions) with immediate effect,” read the correspondence.
It turns out that Mohlala had never been registered by the club and the registration cards could have been fraudulent. The player has always been part of the Kaizer Chiefs development side, according to a report by SABC Sport.
The development means Cosmos are officially going to participate in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League next season.
